I am broadly interested in microbial community dynamics, host-microbe interactions, and coevolution in the mammalian gut.

One of my projects involves exploring the intersection between host circadian rhythms and invasion ecology of the gut community, and the associated selective pressures on different resident microbes.

For another project, I am investigating the molecular basis of host-specificity in gut microbiomes. Specifically, I am asking whether human- and mouse-derived gut microbes adapt via specific mutations to a host environment, early-life exposures that lead to acquired immune tolerance, or some combination of both.
