We’re thrilled to share that Joy Bergelson has officially begun her new role as Executive Vice President of Life Sciences at the Simons Foundation! She joins the foundation’s senior leadership to guide a new grantmaking portfolio focused on ecology and evolutionary biology—bringing her extraordinary expertise to an exciting new chapter in basic science funding.
At the Simons Foundation, Bergelson will develop and launch new grant programs to better understand and predict the dynamics of natural systems, from biodiversity and biological resilience to the effects of climate change and environmental perturbations. Her vision will build on the impactful work of founding director Marian Carlson, who will remain at the foundation until the end of the year. Read her Simons Foundation Biography here.
