We Are So Excited to Have New Faces Joining the Team This Summer!

Welcome Amartya to the Lab!

We’re happy to welcome Amartya to the lab as a visiting undergraduate researcher for this summer.

Amartya is a sophomore at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Integrative Biology Honors with a minor in Statistics. His research explores plant–microbe coevolution, including experiments using barcoded Sinorhizobium strains in Medicago truncatula. We’re excited to welcome him to the lab this summer!

Welcome Michael to the Lab!

We’re excited to welcome Michael to the lab for the summer!

Michael earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Dhaka and his PhD at the Arizona Genomics Institute in the School of Plant Sciences. This summer, he’ll be collaborating with Hanna on the comparative R gene project, focusing on polyploid species such as Draba verna. His work centers on genome assembly as part of the lab’s broader efforts to understand the evolution and function of plant immune genes.

We’re thrilled to have him on board!
